If you were a crayon, what colour would you be and why?
Red. It is bright and cheerful and that is how I want people to remember me too.
What is your favourite place on Earth and why?
My home. It is the place where love has grown for 28 years. My kids grew up in it. I saw my daughters turn in to stunning young ladies here. They fell in love but they always return and bring my wonderful grand kids with them. I just wish I could move it closer to the sea.
Where do you see yourself in five year’s time?
Still working for Fuzzy Feelings, but with nice big shops in Durban and Cape Town. Me no longer being Jack of all trades, only doing the graphic design that I love doing.
Tell us one random thing that few people know about you.
I am very determined. Like a bull dog. Once I sink my teeth into something I don’t let go. I am self taught. Working in the bank for 23 years, there was not a single job that I did not know how to do it. I made it my mission to learn how to do every job done by everyone around me.. If someone called in sick it was never a problem as I could step in and do their work. My motto is learn as much as you can. Knowledge can never be taken away from you.
I dived into having my own sublimation printing company with no knowledge about it at all. I had to teach myself how to become a graphic designer and how to print everything. I built my own website and do my own marketing. I am working on a shoestring budget – making my dream come true of making gifts that will make people feel happy every time they use it.
I can deliver a speech with no preparation at all but I cannot spell. My hubby and daughter always moans about my spelling. On Facebook the spelling police is always on my case.
I was one of the top sales people in the bank and won a trip to Bali. When I took charge of our sales team we were placed 264th in the country. Four months later we were 3rd. We remained in the top 10 until I left the bank in January 2005 to follow my dream of being a Financial advisor.
I put very little value in money, people are much more important to me. I can communicate with beggar or king. Some of the nicest people I have met have been homeless. I value every person I meet.
I don’t dress for success. I am the most happy wearing my jeans, shirt and being barefoot.
I have 3 daughters and my sister passed away when I was 15. Her baby was 4 months old and she grew up in my house as one of my daughters. I am so proud of her and all my daughters. I am so blessed to be granny of 5 grand kids. My family means the world to me.
My core values in life is honesty, integrity and having compassion for all. The best movie I ever saw was “Man of La Mancha” . The theme song of the movie was “To dream the impossible dream”. That is me. the dreamer just like Don Quixote.
