Nanuja helps people “share memories” by helping them organize their photos and then present them in handcrafted photobooks or albums

  1. How long have you been in business?

My Korean husband and I started Nanuja, when we returned to South Africa in 2005 – wow 15 years ago!

  1. How did you get into this business?

I have always loved photographs and books, so when I saw my first “layflat photobook” in South Korea, I just knew that I wanted to bring it to South Africa.

  1. What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it?

Initially our biggest challenge was, that people used film cameras and had to scan the negatives before we could design photobooks. Fortunately the switch to digital, meant this was no longer a problem.

Passion for photography and helping people has meant that I LOVE what I do.

  1. What is the best business advice you’ve received?

“Know your numbers” – this is important if you want to run a business and not a charity.

  1. Your secret to business success is?

Treating my clients like I would like to be treated – and giving of my best to each project.

  1. What is your business goal for 2020?

I’d like to grow my Photo Organisation side of my business – train people to do it themselves and do it for those that are too busy, or prefer a professional to handle it.

  1. Tell us one thing that not many people know about you?

I speak a little Korean and LOVE to travel (wow I wonder when that will be possible again?) – oh and we have a restaurant called Crazy Korean.
