What is the name of your business and what is your role? Books & Books – I manage the store and take care of Marketing & events.

Describe your business in two sentences. Our business is passionate about reading and how we can enhance people’s lives through the pages of a book. We host fabulous functions as well supply to the various schools, libraries and corporates in our community.

How long have you been in business? I have been in this business for over 3 years.

How did you get into this business? I was always passionate about reading and writing and was a customer of Books & Books. I saw an opportunity available to get into this book shop I admired and realized that there is a whole lot more going on behind the scenes. I love it!

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it? My biggest challenge is opening up the imagination of young readers and encouraging their parents to be supportive to their children’s needs. I overcome the ‘mind-block’ by finding the interests of the kids and translating it into the genre of books they would enjoy.

What single trait/skill could you not have succeeded without? Reading. Reading is learning and we learn every day.

What is the best business advice you’ve received? Always ask questions regardless of how silly you think they may be.

Your secret to business success is? The support of the local community and the great staff we have.

What is your business goal for 2014? We want to prosper in the changes we have made.

Tell us one thing that not many people know about you? I used to swim competitively in my youth and that drive to succeed has carried over into my work.
