- What is the name of your business and what is your role?My business is called Ken Bond Badges and Signs (soon to be changed to KD badges and signs) I am the sole owner.
- Describe your business in two sentences.We manufacture and supply name badges as well as all types of signage.
- How long have you been in business?I bought the business a year ago, but the business itself has been in existence for 20 years.
- How did you get into this business?I headed up the SMME segment at Standard Bank for 12 years, leading a large team of business bankers and business managers, so when the opportunity to buy this business came up I jumped at the opportunity to put all the years of business experience to good use.
- What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it?The biggest challenge was making the transition from a large corporate environment to being my own boss. With routine and discipline, I have settled into my new environment with relative ease.
- What single trait/skill could you not have succeeded without?Time management in any business is key.
- What is the best business advice you’ve received?To succeed in your business you have to be hands on.
- Your secret to business success is?I believe my business offers excellent personalised customer service, excellent quality and quick turnaround times.
- What is your business goal for 2014?To understand the business from start to finish, to employ someone to take over from me on the production so I can focus on an effective marketing plan.
- Tell us one thing that not many people know about you?I have a twin sister.
