Guest Speakers: Bruce Grant & Mike Wiggett

Bruce and his wife Stacey have 2 little boys Jordan and Tyler and are a local Durban North family. Bruce is an active sportsman and has played both provincial and national field hockey. His passion for sport lead to his involvement in sports medicine and he has been involved with numerous sports teams over the years. He treated the South African Men’s Hockey Team in the build-up to the Beijing Olympics 2008 and the World Cup 2010, running 2 medical teams of multidisciplinary practitioners.

Mike grew up in JHB and saw the light and made the move to Durban 11 years ago. Mike is an active person; still playing a high level of hockey, as well as surfing and kiting. Through numerous injuries during high school, Mike developed a keen interest in sports medicine which has given him the opportunity of being involved with numerous sports team, and currently heading up the medical team for the Collegians Rugby Club.

Both Bruce and Mike are extremely passionate about health, treating patients and serving the community. They engage the patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century, by shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach. With treatment of the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms, We combine this approach with rehabilitation and education of the specific injury or medical condition to get the corrective and sustained result.
