August 2017 Meeting
August 3, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 10:30 am
Topic: Living Mindfully
Mindfulness refers to the willingness or ability to show up fully in your lives and live them as if they really mattered. It is a basic human quality, a way of learning to pay attention to whatever is happening in your life that allows you a greater sense of connection to your life inwardly and outwardly. Come and join us to find out more about mindfulness and how you can introduce a few practical ways to live more mindfully.
Mindfulness is typically cultivated by a range of simple meditation practices, which aim to bring a greater awareness of thinking, feeling and behaviour patterns, and to develop the capacity to manage these with greater skill and compassion. This leads to an expansion of choice and capacity in how to meet and respond to life’s challenges, and therefore live with greater wellbeing, mental clarity and care for yourself and others.
"If we are to grasp the reality of our life while we have it, we will need to wake up to our moments. Otherwise, whole days, even a whole life, could slip past unnoticed." - Jon Kabat - Zinn
