She jointly won the Emma Smith Overseas Art Scholarship in 1992\, at the end of her studies. She then participated in many national collections whilst holding down a temporary position\, to supplement her income\, and plan her overseas travel. \nKaren started her working career in fashion forecasting for Promostyl in Paris in 1994. It was during this time (1994 -1996) that she also worked for Kingsgate Clothing/AM MOOLLA Group in ladies and childrenswear. This was closely followed by her design work at Lee Jeans\, head designer for Menswear (1996-2000) and Lotto Italian Sportswear (2001) in both men’s and ladies’ wear. \nShe is a frequent and fiercely passionate contributor to South Africa’ s premier shows which include showcasing at SA Fashion Week\, AFI Fashion Weeks (Durban\, Cape Town and Jo ’burg)\, Design Indaba several years running\, and more recently the Durban Fashion Fair. (2013 to date) \nKaren is an offbeat and optimistic\, proudly South African fashion designer with a passion for all things local and a heart that believes in the power of a dream. Her design ethos is a cross pollination of her flamboyant style with a street edge.
