Chairlady’s Musings: The Dream
If your dream doesn’t scare you, you are not dreaming big enough! I always keep this one in my back pocket, as a reminder to dream BIG! So today I want to chat about your dream for your business. Let’s take a step back. What was the original dream? Has the dream changed over the years? Do you still dream of bigger things for yourself and your business?
Considering that is where it started for most people, isn’t it worth taking a moment and remember the original dream. Drawn on a paper napkin (sorry, cheesy I know), discussed over a bottle of wine with your closest friends or on a big power point presentation for all to see? Don’t forget where it all started, cherish that original idea and vision you had. But check in on it from time to time.
Maybe you got so stuck in the doing, you forgot about the dreaming. Maybe the original dream has been realised and now you can start on your next dream, or the next level of your dream. And there is nothing wrong with having a new dream. Dream and believe that you can do anything and then go out there and make things happen. But never stop dreaming.
Have some dreams died over the years? As hard as it initially may seem, it could mean it wasn’t meant to be, or not for you at that moment, a lesson to learn. Or a stepping stone to the bigger or better dream waiting for you.
My current business dream; A huge and fancy studio, with white walls on two sides, a brick wall on the third and full windows on the 4th. Stunning natural light flowing in. At least 6 different lights and all the little bits that goes with that, new and appropriate props, a beautiful sitting area and bathroom, save off-street parking. And it is filled with all my ideal clients, happily throwing their money at me to take their photos. My happy place.
Never stop dreaming.

“If you have dreams you want to pursue, the time is now. There is no perfect time, and there is no better time. There is only the time you lose while you’re making excuses.” Holly Lisle
